Fund a keiki's first apprenticeship.

Why your gift matters

HLYF doesn't run a training program. Hawaiʻi's union and registered apprenticeships already do that work — and they do it well.

What stops Hawaiian teens from getting in isn't the program. It's the practical cost of getting to day one.

Most apprenticeships are headquartered on Oʻahu. A teen from a neighbor island often needs a week in Honolulu for testing and orientation — flights, lodging, food, transportation. Add boots, drug tests, safety cards, and gas money to get to work for weeks before the first paycheck, and a family that can't front $1,000+ has to say no.

Your gift removes that barrier — and a Hawaiian keiki gets to stay home and earn a living wage.

What your gift funds

$100 — Application essentials

Funds the drug test, OSHA-10 safety card, and ID processing one applicant needs to enter an apprenticeship program.

$500 — Day-one gear

Provides work boots, clothes, and gloves for one applicant ready to start their first shift.

$1,500 — First-month sustenance

Supports HLYF's stipend program for food, transportation, and work essentials during one keiki's first month — before their first full paycheck arrives.

$5,000 — Sponsor a keiki away from home

Sponsors a keiki's complete first-month transition: application essentials, gear, and HLYF's stipend program for food, transportation, and lodging when relocating from a neighbor island.

Give to fund the first cohort.
